PRIDE On-Site Testing Outreach with A&PI Wellness Center

Help us sign people up for on-site rapid HIV and Hepatitis B/C testing at the PRIDE rally in Civic Center Plaza. We are partnering with the Asian and Pacific Islander Wellness Center to offer 30-minute HIV rapid testing in addition to Hep B/C testing.
Testing Outreach Volunteers will work closely with A and PI Wellness Center's Testing Clinic to recruit potential high-risk A and PI MSM (Men who have Sex with Men) and Transgenders during SF Pride on June 28th, 2009.
Volunteers will recruit clients for our on-site HIV and Hepatitis B and C testing services through a variety of outreach methods. We will have a recruitment booth in front of the Vet Center , where testing will take place indoors. The booth is part of the A and PI "Circus" themed pavilion, located between Turk and Golden Gate on Polk Street.
Volunteers will work for one two-hour shift starting at 10 a.m., noon, and 2 p.m. The 2 p.m. shift will last for three hours, and individuals may sign-up for more than one shift.
Volunteers will meet at the Vet Center at 505 Polk Street between Turk and Golden Gate at least 15 minutes before their shift begins.
All volunteers will receive an official A&PI Wellness Center SF Pride T-Shirt for their efforts. Limited edition!
Personal Note: Hep B/C testing is especially important in the A and PI community since a truly disproportionate number of A and PI men die from Hep B/C, including the beautiful partner of one of my college friends. Hep B/C is a silent and often "forgotten" killer. I fully believe that someone's life will be saved because of the rally outreach. - Jay (Jay Jonah Cash)
