John R. Bolton served as the interim U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations with the title of ambassador. He is now a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute. Domestic and global security are hot-button issues in the wake of 9/11, but what does the future hold? Bolton, after a year and a half at the United Nations, will provide an insider's look at the organization. He will also share his views on U.S. foreign policy.
John R. Bolton was born in Baltimore, Maryland and raised as a Lutheran. The son of a fireman, he grew up in the working-class neighborhood of Yale Heights and won a scholarship to the McDonogh School in Owings Mills, Maryland, graduating in 1966. He then attended Yale University, where he was a member of the Yale Political Union, and where he ultimately earned a B.A. summa cum laude in 1970 and a J.D. in 1974.
