The 45th annual Cable Car Bell-Ringing contest will be held today, according to the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency.

There will be two competitions, according to the agency. The first will feature cable car gripmen and conductors who will face-off in the challenge to become the world champion cable car bell-ringer.
The second portion of the contest will feature local media representatives and personalities who will be ringing to raise money for their favorite charities, according to the agency.
Each section of the contest will have a first place prize of $1,000, while the bell-ringer who comes in second will receive $750 and the third place contestant will receive $500. According to the agency, there will be other prizes distributed as well, such as hotel stays, dinners, and gift certificates.
The contest will take place today at noon in Union Square.
