Following is an open letter from Aaron Peskin, Chair, San Francisco Democratic Party (and current President of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors):
A Message from the New Chair of the
San Francisco
Democratic Party
Dear Democratic party activists:
Now is the time, this is the place. This is where the rubber hits the road. The work we do over the next 83 days will determine the future of our city, our country and ultimately the world.
San Francisco has been a beacon of light for the State of California and the United States of America. In judicial circles there is a saying, "As goes the State of California, so goes the nation". In San Francisco we say, "As goes San Francisco, so goes the state of California." What happens here ultimately has a profound effect on the destiny of our country.
The San Francisco Democratic Party is on the eve of opening a campaign headquarters to make sure that San Francisco has the largest electoral turnout in its history and registers more democrats then ever before. With your activism and hard work we will rally to ensure that we have a clean sweep in November.
There is so much at stake: from putting Barack Obama in the White House to important local initiatives ranging from passing a bond to rebuild the crown jewel of our health care system, SF General Hospital to passing just revenue measures that will ensure that our City's largest corporations pay their fair share to passing a measure that will guarantee that San Francisco leads the way in clean energy to passing a charter amendment to build sorely needed affordable housing.
These next 83 days are the most important moments for the future of San Francisco, the United States and our planet. Come visit us at our headquarters at 939 Market St, and dedicate as many of your waking hours as you can between now and November 4th. Tell your friends. Tell your family.
For questions or for more information on how to get involved, call the San Francisco Democratic Party at or email Emily at .
I look forward to standing with you, knocking on doors and ensuring that every eligible voter in San Francisco goes to the polls on November 4th. Together we can change the destiny of our country.
Sincerely,
- Aaron Peskin
Chair San Francisco Democratic Party
