On April 29th at 11:30 am, the Board of Supervisors will hold a hearing on Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi's ordinance to create a new funding source to preserve San Francisco's public access television, known as Access SF. Changes in state law are set to eliminate $740,000 in funding for Access SF, which could mean the end of public access TV as we know it. Click here for directions. This ordinance follows up on Supervisor Mirkarimi's successful non-binding resolution in support of funding for Access SF. State and federal laws allow San Francisco to receive up to 3% of the gross revenues from cable franchises to be used for public access capital needs.
If you support public access television it is extremely important that you attend this hearing and voice your opinion. This may be our last chance!
