Who is Colin Powell?
He is a U. S. Army Ranger, a decorated Vietnam veteran, a retired four-star general, former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and former Secretary of State for George W. Bush. Powell has been awarded the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, Legion of Merit, Defense Distinguished Service Medal with 3 oak clusters, Army Defense Service Medal with oak leaf cluster, Army Commendation Medal with 2 oak clusters, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, Vietnam Service Medal with 1 Silver Service Star and the National Defense Service Medal with 1 bronze star.
Powell has also been awarded Legion of Honor (Legion d'honneur) from the government of France and the meritorious Service Cross by the Canadian government. Powell has also been knighted by Queen Elizabeth II with the distinction of honorary Knight Commander of the First Order of the Bath. Powell also served as Secretary of State under George W. Bush. Powell was also National Security Advisor to President Ronald Reagan.
