Published since 2005. San Francisco is a city that belongs to the people of the world. Hence this blog has a global focus. The name "Sam Spade's San Francisco" refers to an exciting era in the City's history, the time of Dashiell Hammett's fictional gumshoe and San Francisco character, Sam Spade. My name is Tom Dunn and I edit the blog. I'm not as exciting as Sam Spade, but I am definitely a San Francisco character.Contact or on Twitter -- Search blog below.

Poll: 92% think Chris Daly is Irresponsible
San FranciscoBusiness Timesconducted a survey of its readers.
The question was, "Do you think Chris Daly acts responsibly as a civic leader in San Francisco?"
Eight percent of the respondents answered the question this way: "Yes. He advocates legitimate points of view that the mayor doesn't happen to like."
However, a whopping 92% voted this way: "No. His views are often childish and his methods don't advance the debate."
The readers were also eager to add comments - and boy oh boy - you ought to read some of the steamy comments.

Make that 93%
I think Chris Daly is the biggest Jackass ever elected to the Board fo Supervisors.
By the way, how can I get my hands on that flyer in the photo? They should be on every lamp post in his district - the Tenderloin.
