San Francisco Business Times reported today that Slanted Door chef Charles Phan will open his third San Francisco restaurant later this year in Pacific Heights.
Phan bought a building on 2232 Bush Street between Steiner and Fillmore Streets and is planning a 3,000 square foot restaurant, Phan confirmed Wednesday.
The location would be the second outpost of Phan's Out the Door concept. Originally intended to focus on take-out and cook-at-home food, the original Out the Door at Westfield San Francisco Centre has morphed into something that would be better titled Inside the Door, with table service and a forthcoming wine bar.
The Pacific Heights version of Out the Door may be more true to its name. It will include tables with table service and will likely include a wine bar. But it may have more of an emphasis on takeout and cook-at-home meals, which include ingredients and directions.
Phan is still developing the concept and many decisions remain up in the air. It is expected to open by the end of the fall, possibly as soon as this summer.
