Mormons in California are a lot like sheep. They do whatever their geriatric leaders in Salt Lake City tell them to do - even when it comes to breaking laws and committing felonies.
During and shortly after California Prop 8, officials of the Mormon Church denied they were the force behind the hate bill that sought to strip gay and lesbian California of their human rights. The Mormon Church in Utah lied to its members in California, lied to the people of California and with deliberate intent, violated California law and very possibly federal election laws. Somebody in Salt Lake City is going to jail.
Mormon church officials, facing an ongoing investigation by the state Fair Political Practices Commission, Friday reported nearly $190,000 in previously unlisted assistance to the successful campaign for Prop. 8, which banned same-sex marriage in California. Some state officials are concerned that the leadership of the Mormon Church may have been involved in a conspiracy to evade the California Fair Political Practices Act. Violations of the Act can, under some circumstances, be felony violations and result in prison. The leadership of the Mormon Church may face arrest and prosecution.
To put it plainly and simply: the Mormon Church lied. They are liars and they may very well be felons as well.

The Mormon Church began with a set of principles that make Mary Poppins and Snow White almost believable. It is a moronic story, but the U. S. Constitution defends the rights of Americans to believe whatever they want - no matter how nonsensical it may be. We draw the line, however, when religious morons try to force their own dysfunctional thinking on the rest of us.
.
The Mormon church needs to recognize that their authority extends only to their fellow Morons.

This is a very serious issue. A religious institution may be guilty of trying to manipulate a California election and interfere with the process of democracy in the United States. Charges may be far ranging and may include both California and federal criminal charges being brought against the leaders of the Mormon Church at Salt Lake City, Utah.
In addition to a full-scale investigation by the California Fair Political Practices Commission, some are calling for a federal investigation to be conducted by the FBI. Others want the Federal Elections Commission to assist in the investigation.
The California Fair Political Practices Commission report, filed with the secretary of state's office, listed a variety of California travel expenses for high-ranking members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and included $20,575 for use of facilities and equipment at the church's Salt Lake City headquarters and a $96,849 charge for "compensated staff time" for church employees who worked on matters pertaining to Prop. 8.
"This is exactly what we were talking about when we filed the suit," said Fred Karger of Californians Against Hate, which opposed the same-sex marriage ban. "They spent money on the campaign and were supposed to report it."
The next time you see Mormon Missionaries walking about in San Francisco, be sure you let them know what you think of their "church".

I'm glad to see you were able to put whatever bias you may or may not have had behind you before creating this quaint little piece. Oh and by the way, the "previously unreported" figures were preliminary figures, the kind you turn in before the due date, like a rough-rough-draft. The official due date was Jan 31, and they made it even if they had to stay up late trying to figure out what expenses could be attributed to Prop 8. And the grand total LDS church contributions $190,000 divided by the total contributions of roughtly $40,000,000 is (rounding the LDS contributions up to 200,000) 1 out of 200 or one half a percent. You can still hate mormons if you want, but not over Prop 8, blame Californians for that.
Okay, we'll be the sheep and you can be the goats. I'm good with that.
It's not "us" versus "them". We are all Americans. It's an issue of civil rights, you moron.
