McCain McCrap: Car Bomb Kills 51 in Baghdad, Injures 70 more!

Please! Will somebody - ANYBODY - reading this blog - please tell John McCain that he needs to read the news about what's really happening in Baghdad before he makes any more campaign speeches about how well the 'surge' is doing in Iraq. Somebody needs to help the poor old guy stop making a fool out of himself.

For example: This very day a massive car bomb ripped through a crowd of evening shoppers in a busy Baghdad shopping neighborhood, killing 51 people and wounding more than 70. It was the deadliest strike in the Iraqi capital in the past three months.

As US generals pointed to what they say are fragile security gains in Iraq, terrorists sent a pick-up filled with explosives into the mainly Shia area of Hurriyah in northwestern Baghdad in a move designed to reignite the sectarian tensions that once tore the city apart. The attack made our generals look like political puppets who regurgitate Bushisms, Cheny-isms and now, McCainisms instead of telling us the truth about what's happening in Iraq.

Many of those killed were trapped in a burning building that went up in flames when the powerful blast set fire to a generator supplying the area with electricity, witnesses said. Others died when a multistory building collapsed from the shock of the explosion, which set fire to more than a dozen other buildings.

The explosion, the deadliest in the capital for three months, showed that despite the progress made by the US ‘surge’ and an increased presence of Iraqi armed forces on the streets, bombers are still waiting to strike at any moment. The attack bore the hallmarks of al-Qaeda, who have killed thousands of Shia civilians in bombings so vicious that they eventually turned its local Sunni insurgent allies against it in many parts of the country.

John McCain started out life on the right track. He became a commissioned officer in the United States Navy, became a bona fide war hero and was one of this nation's honored POWs. Unfortunately his later life as a United States Senator has been much less than illustrious. He should have stayed in the Navy like his father who rose to the rank of Admiral. John McCain is a great American and we owe him our highest respect, but quite frankly, he's just not in the A-Team when it comes to presidential qualifications.
