The San Francisco SPCA filed this report on the success of their 2007 Macy's Holiday Window Pet Adoption program which just closed in December:
The 2007 Holiday Windows Adoption Outreach Campaign at Macy's was a smashing success! During the six-week event, 277 cats and dogs were adopted and over $37,000 donated to the homeless animals at The SF/SPCA! This is a huge increase over the 2006 Holiday Windows where 200 animals were adopted and approximately $25,000 was collected in donations.
The 2007 event also marked a milestone - the 4,000th adoption (a cat) since the first Holiday Windows began in 1986! The SF/SPCA wishes to express its deep appreciation to Macy's and its staff for their commitment to Holiday Windows; 2007 was the fourth year in a row that Macy's has hosted the event and its windows were the most creative and spectacular ever! The landmarks' panorama - from the Golden Gate Bridge to the Bay Bridge, from the Ferry Building to Twin Peaks - and the snow globes, featuring San Francisco holiday traditions such as The Nutcracker and Beach Blanket Babylon, all contributed to making the 2007 Holiday Windows a delight for young and old. And with the addition of live kittens and puppies, the crowds were often six deep on the sidewalk outside Macy's!
The SF/SPCA is also grateful to Wag Hotels and Stores, Pet Food Express, Hush Puppies, Urban Decay, KONG Pet Toys, Nature's Variety, VIP Petcare Services, Greenies, The San Francisco Examiner, 7X7, and California Home and Design for their sponsorship and support of the 2007 Holiday Windows.
And to the members of the public who adopted from the 2007 Holiday Windows, who volunteered their time to work a shift, or who donated money to us, we thank you on behalf of the animals for whom we all care so deeply.
