Bottom of the sludge tank: AT&T ranked America's worst wireless carrier by Consumer Reports

According to a report published in the San Francisco Business Times today, AT&T is at the bottom of the sludge tank. The SF Business Times said that Consumers Reports has rated AT&T dead last among wireless carriers.

The rating came as no surprise to readers of the San Francisco Business Times, who since the fall have been logging wireless dead zones around the Bay Area. Of the 1,400-plus Bay Area wireless dead zones logged by SF Business Times readers so far, 81 percent named AT&T as the carrier. Here's a list of all the dead zones

For its study, Consumer Reports surveyed 58,000 readers, over half of whom owned some version of Apple's ubiquitous iPhone. It said of all the carriers it rates, only AT&T dropped significantly in overall satisfaction.

This is terribly embarrassing for the World Champion San Francisco Giants who now play  in AT&T Park (aka: Loser's Park). This is one of the problems with selling the name of a ball park to the highest bidder. The name may become an embarrassment.

Well, in the case of AT&T Park, the brand name has become an embarrassment and a contradiction in terms to San Francisco Giants. It is regretful. The Giants are at the top of their game and AT&T is at the bottom of theirs.

It could have been worse. Carly Fiorina could have bought the rights to the park. The Giants could have been playing in Fiorina Arena. Or Meg Whitman and pals could have offered enough money to name it Tea Party Park and change the Coke bottle into a big red neon GOP elephant. With enough of Meg's Money they could have changed McCovey Cove to Sarah Palin Pond. What the hell. For enough money we will humiliate ourselves, right?

So where does the craziness end?

Don't you think it's time the City of San Francisco and the Giants organization returns AT&T's damn money and changes the name of our ballpark to Giants Park?

I sure do. Let's send AT&T into the Dead Zone.
