Come Aboard USCGC Bertholf - tour and action video


Come aboard the United States Coast Guard's newest and most sophisticated cutter, the USCGC Bertholf. The Bertholf is stationed right here in San Francisco Bay as part of the Eleventh Coast Guard District headquartered at Coast Guard Island, adjacent to Alameda, in San Francisco Bay.

The following video was produced while Bertholf was being built. It is a fascinating look into the first of the Coast Guard's new National Security Cutter class of ships that are larger than WWII tin can destroyers and the Bertholf has greater firepower and more sophisticated computerized electronics than any other similar ship on the planet.
