Folsom Street Fair: Join the REAL San Francisco Police at the Fair!


The San Francisco Police Department wants you big burly leather studs and biker dykes to get real and join the SFPD.

The San Francisco Police Department is actively recruiting Queer candidates for the police academy.

THE SFPD will have a special career booth at this year's Folsom Street Fair, September 28th, 2008,  in hopes of attracting gay and lesbian fairgoers to careers in the uniform of the San Francisco Police Department.

Theresa Sparks, President of the San Francisco Police Commission, is transgender. The command staff and civilian political authority in San Francisco is more Queer-friendly than 99% of all other agencies to which you might apply.

The current annual entry-level salary for Police Officers is: $75,868 to $101,556. 

Benefits for San Francisco Police officers include:
  • 10 paid vacation days a year during the first five years of service.
  • 15 paid vacation days a year during the next 10 years of service.
  • 20 paid vacation days a year after 15 years of service.
  • 4 floating holidays.
  • 13 paid sick days a year and several healthcare plans.
  • Bilingual pay and special assignment pay.
  • Retirement Eligibility at age 50, with a maximum of 90% benefit based on years of service.
