A Coast Guard Air Station Houston helicopter rescues 2 people from the top of an oil tank along the southeastern coastline of Texas in the hours before Hurricane Ike makes landfall. This is the same helicopter and crew that were involved in the rescue we reported on earlier today.
According to TV news reports, the Coast Guard has rescued over 50 people so far and Hurricane Ike is not expected to make landfall until the early hourse of Saturday. They are currently attempting to rescue 150 who are still on the ground in the Galveston area.
