Wednesday morning update at 10:16 AM:
The crowds lining the parade route are already estimated to be around 200,000.
- All the BART trains coming into the City are packed.
- The Muni Metro system is running at beyond capacity.
- Most city-owned parking garages are already completely full.
- At most places along the parade route people are standing 15 to 20-deep in some places, 10-deep in almost all places.
- The entire civic center plaza area is packed shoulder-to-shoulder.
- All major downtown streets are clogged and traffic is crawling at best and completely blocked in other areas.
If you are not already downtown, you are not going to be able to get close enough to see much of the Giants. You can be among the crowd, but you won't see much. Some estimates are putting the crowd at 200,000. I can't verify that, but it looks like a lot more people than we usually see for SF Pride, and that's BIG! One thing is absolutely clear: the crowd is growing fast and in big waves of people. How big will this thing get?
Your best bet now is to watch it on KRON-4 TV or CBS-5.
Also: today is an air inversion day. There is a lot of smog over the East Bay today. This may be a rough day for people with asthma or COPD. Keep that in mind. The air over San Francisco is a little better and the air out by Golden Gate Park and the beach is just about ideal. The high today in San Francisco is expected to be around 72 degrees, maybe a little higher downtown where the crowd is.
Here is the original story. Check out the links.
