Published since 2005. San Francisco is a city that belongs to the people of the world. Hence this blog has a global focus. The name "Sam Spade's San Francisco" refers to an exciting era in the City's history, the time of Dashiell Hammett's fictional gumshoe and San Francisco character, Sam Spade. My name is Tom Dunn and I edit the blog. I'm not as exciting as Sam Spade, but I am definitely a San Francisco character.Contact or on Twitter -- Search blog below.

Film in the Fog - Grease sing-along at the Presidio, San Francisco - FREE
- Saturday, Sep 26, 2009 - The Presidio at Sunset

- Free popcorn - A sing-along to Grease, the musical
Film in the Fog . . . I got the following delightful email from Betty Tweedy. Betty's passion is promoting the San Francisco Film Society (SFFS) and she does a terrific job - just as everyone at SFFS, which is Northern California's premier organization for filmakers and cineasts.
SFFS Board advisory members include Peter Coyote, Clint Eastwood, Danny Glover, Dustin Hoffman, Robert Redford, Kevin Spacey and San Francisco's own special super star, Hizzoner, da Mayor emeritus, Willie L. Brown, Jr.
Betty did a perfect job of pitching this wonderful San Francisco event. As I read through her email I developed the thought that Film in the Fog - at the Presidio - singing along with Grease, the musical - watching the sun set over the Pacific Ocean - is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon and evening in my beautiful hometown. Betty sold me!
So, if you have any questions, how can I improve upon Betty?
Here's the original email I received:
My name is Betty and I'm with the publicity department at the San Francisco Film Society. The Film Society and the Presidio Trust are presenting this years Film in the Fog event on Saturday, September 26th on the lawn of the Main Post Theatre in the Presidio (). This event will feature Grease (1978) Sing-Along, a classic cartoon and a short film. There will also be entertainment from PI: The Physical Comedy Troupe and free popcorn. The outdoor event is free and promises to be a fun filled day out which may be of interest to your readers. We'd love to get a mention in your events listings, you can find out more about the event in the attached press release or please feel free to contact me for more information.
Thanks,
